'Budding Ceremony' - Information for Girls

= play + explore + create + decorate + talk + reflect + take pleasure + relax + fun + safe + sacred + supported + honouring + nurturing =

If you are aged between eleven and thirteen, and you have started menstruating, you are invited to join us for this very special Rite of Passage.

You and your mum (or other Very Important Woman!) will be part of a small group of 5 - 10 mother and daughter pairs.
You will spend the day in a beautiful bushland setting at Noonyarra on Falls Rd, Hovea.

The facilitated program begins promptly at 10am, and arrivals are welcome from 9:40am.

After an opening cirle and some introductory activities to give everyone a chance to settle in and get to know each other, we will be dividing into two groups - girls and mothers - so you will have the opportunity to do some 'secret girls business' in the upstairs room with Miriam :) .

We'll all come back together for shared lunch, and then after lunch, its time for you girls to get yourselves ready for the afternoon's ceremony. Our closing circle is at 3:45 for a 4pm finish.

What to Wear

Come wearing something that's comfortable to move your body around in. You'll probably want some layers you can put on or take off as it may be cold outside, but inside there is a pot belly and the upstairs room where you'll mostly be hanging out gets toasty warm.
Don't forget to bring your bathers and towel for some fun in the spa tub! (A bikini is ideal).
And you'll want to bring something light and feminine - that makes you feel really special - to dress up in for the ceremony in the afternoon.

What to Bring

  • your curiosity and a willingness to have some fun
  • a journal or notebook to write in and some coloured pens/texters
  • a flower
  • a power/courage object (that you can hold in your hand)
  • a cushion to sit on and a wrap or a blanket in case you get cool while sitting
  • drum or other percussion instrument (optional, if you have one)

You and mum will also need to bring some yummy food along for our shared lunch.

PS. Tell all your friends: Be there or be square!
